sight

I had lunch with a visually impaired stranger today. He looked like he was lost, so I helped guide him to the line, and he didn't have anyone else (and nor did I) so I ended up eating with him. A welcome and interesting variation on the daily routine.

I've never made any blind friends before, but I think it's kind of neat. Completely different sensory experience from what we're used to. The whole dynamics of mobility and interaction are changed. Somehow, it seems strange that I've never known anyone without sight before. It's easy for me to sit here and write that it's neat, but I'm sure it's a lot harder to actually live with. Not saying I would trade lots with him. I kind of wanted to ask him more about what it was like, but thought it might be kind of rude. At any rate, we both enjoyed the company so it was good.
