T minus 1 week

Defending on Tuesday at 3pm. Wow, it is really getting down to the wire. I just emailed an extremely rough draft of my dissertation to my advisor... even if he has no corrections it still needs several days of work, plus I have to finish getting my slides together and preparing my talk. But it still looks doable... hypothetically. *breathe!* Also, I'm going to Europe for a couple weeks around the beginning of July... still working things out.

In the meantime, enjoy these Tiga videos...

This is your first draft? I generally had two rounds of corrections for most of my thesis, though the second round tended to be pretty mild.

Well, keep in mind that a lot of my dissertation is just papers that have already been published. I did send Tom an earlier version of part of the introduction a couple weeks ago, but he never even acknowledged that he received it or sent any comments back... so I don't think he read it.

When I saw your comment this morning, I started kind of freaking out, wondering if I was going to have a month's worth of corrections after this. But then I got an email back from Tom saying "here are my corrections". Turns out, it was "add this reference" and remove one statement I made in the introduction that's wrong. Although I emailed him back, asking if he had read the last chapter, a lot of which he had never seen. If anything I was expecting more corrections on that, but he didn't say anything about it so I'm not sure if he read it... guess I'll find out :) Anyway, I feel a lot better about my whole situation after getting his email. Basically, he's happy with it... which is good. Now I just need to finish the last few things I was going to add and proofread it myself.
