This is why I find it pointless to debate politics with partisans...

http://www.livescience.com/othernews/060124_political_decisions.html

They're incapable of reason when it comes to anything political. The two-party system sets up a reward-response mechanism in the brain that circumvents any consideration of new facts. Quite similar to what I think goes on in religious people's brains, when they encounter facts which contradict their beliefs (except that they have their own name for this shutdown mechanism: "faith"), but that's a whole 'nother story.

So sad, yet so true. When are we going to get rid of this broken system we have and start encouraging people to think for themselves?

Politics is religion for the religionless. And even more scary, sometimes for those who wish to mix it with religion.

Man, it really is scary when you think about it: some people are willing to subject entire nations to arbitrary laws derived from superstition; in fact they think it of utmost importance.

The last time we mixed government and religion we burned people at the stake.
